5 I stopped in for breakfast on a sunny, cool winter’s morning, en route to the office. I’ve been here once before, had a great first experience, and thought it was time for round two. Located at the southern end of Zetland, near the old Women’s Hospital, Buku sits in a quiet, sun-drenched spot next to the park—a great little pocket of calm to start the day. Still on the hunt for a good local eggs Benny with house-made hollandaise, I asked the question—sadly, it’s another spot using the jarred version, which just isn’t for me. Instead, I went for the: Crabby Truffle Scramble Chilli scrambled eggs with house-made chilli truffle oil, crispy soft-shell crab, fried onion, finger lime, and tobiko (flying fish roe), all served on a croissant. The dish was beautifully presented, and the flavours were spot on—the right amount of heat, the crab perfectly crispy, and the roe adding a subtle, luxe touch. Balanced, creative, and absolutely delicious. So no house hollandaise? No worries—they absolutely nailed this dish. I also had a flat white, which made for a great second coffee of the day. Smooth, well-made, and just what I needed. Final Thoughts Buku might not tick the eggs Benny box for me, but I’d happily come back for more of their thoughtfully prepared, flavour-packed dishes
5 Absolutely amazing experience! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the atmosphere — vibrant, stylish, and full of energy. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always smiling and making sure everything was perfect. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish looked like art and tasted even better — fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and beautiful presentation. The drinks were top-notch too, perfectly balanced and served with flair. It’s rare to find a place that nails every detail, but this one truly does. Whether you’re coming for a casual meal, a brunch with friends, or just to enjoy the vibe, you’ll leave impressed and wanting to come back. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had — can’t recommend it enough!
5 Went here on a Sunday after church for brunch as this cafe had an outdoor sitting area and the weather was beautiful. My partner and I ordered the fish Sando and teriyaki chicken sandwich and both were so delightful! The fish sando was fresh, light tasting yet delicious and it came with fries. Just note that the fish sando was quite small in portion. The teriyaki chicken sandwhich had an interesting twist with pineapple in it - which surprisingly complimented the whole sandwich very well! The teriyaki chicken was very nicely seasoned and not too salty. Both sandwiches had slaw inside which was not too heavy and was a good incorporation of vegetables. They have very interesting drinks too such as orange cold brew and yuzu cold brew which are worth a try. Overall, a great cafe with lovely outdoor sitting!
5 Friendliest service, the crab scrambled egg was to die for, and the ear grey matcha was just 10/10!! Comfortable, casual place with amazing vibes - will be coming back for sure!
